The Show

Drawing a parallel between Singapore and Young Olympians, the story begins with their hopes and dreams, follows them through their struggles and transformations, before culminating in the birth of a new beginning, on 14 August 2010, with the world’s largest floating platform as the stage.

7,000 performers will tell the story of the perseverance and achievement of a young nation, which is likened to the determination and success of youth athletes.
Creative Director Ivan Heng and his team weave genres like theatre, music, song, dance and multimedia into a show infused with surprises and special effects that will be played out against the stunning backdrop of Singapore’s Marina Bay.

Created by Singaporeans, the show will also see Show Producer Vernon Teo working alongside a world-class international team of technical experts from France, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom, including Technical Director Nick Eltis, Lighting Designer Koert Vermeulun, Special Effects Designer Jean Kohler, Fireworks and Pyrotechnics Designer Michael Lakin, Flames Designer Francois Montel, Sound Designer Scott Willsallen, Set Designer Raja Malek and Multimedia Director Brian Gothong Tan.

Youth performers like beat boxer Dharni, DJ KoFlow, fire performers from Bornfire and SOKA, martial arts students from Martial House and drummers from Drumfest will feature prominently to appeal to the young target audience.
