Singapore congratulates Nanjing (China)
11 Feb 2010

The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) congratulates Nanjing, China on their successful bid to host the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014. Following the announcement by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at their session in Vancouver, Mr NG Ser Miang, Chairman, SYOGOC, and IOC Vice-President said: "We would like to congratulate the city of Nanjing in their successful bid to host the 2nd edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games. Nanjing has excellent sports facilities and given its rich culture and history, it would certainly be an enriching experience for the world’s top young athletes taking part in the 2014 YOG."

"SYOGOC looks forward to working closely with Nanjing to share the knowledge and experience of organising the first Youth Olympic Games with the view to create sustainable programmes that would leave a lasting legacy to the youth of the world. I believe there are opportunities for both organising teams to work together to motivate youth to participate in sport and play an active role in their communities."

"We now have about half a year to go before the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Next month, we will welcome the Chef-de-Missions (CDM) to Singapore to brief them on the Singapore 2010 YOG so as to facilitate their preparations for this event. While in Singapore, they will be able to see first hand the facilities that their athletes will be using and understand in detail the experience their athletes will have in Sports, Culture and Education in August 2010"," said Mr NG.
