Speech by Mr Goh Kee Nguan, CEO, SYOGOC at the Signing Ceremony for Crocodile International Pte Ltd as the Official Apparel Partner

12 August 2009

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan,
Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports

Dato Dr TAN Hian Tsin
Founder and Chairman of Crocodile Group of Companies,

Mr ANG Boon Tian
CEO of Crocodile Group of Companies,

Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.

A very good morning to you.

I am very happy to welcome Crocodile International Pte Ltd as our Official Apparel Partner for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

The signing of this sponsorship agreement today marks another milestone for our journey. Crocodile is the first local small-medium enterprise (SME) to come on board to sponsor uniforms for the Games. This home-grown company has over 60 years of experience in the apparel industry.

Close to 30,000 workforce, including volunteers, technical officials, torch bearers and torch relay escorts, will be dressed by Crocodile. The uniform is an important part of the Games. It not only serves as a form of identification but it also reflects our vision of the Games. We are confident that Crocodile will be our valued partner, providing quality products for the Games.

We see synergy in partnering Crocodile as we see that in recent years, the Crocodile brand has moved with passion and courage towards one where it possesses an element of fashion and youthfulness. This is in line with what we see in the Youth Olympic Games.

I believe that Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games has and will continue to provide a rare and great opportunity for companies in Singapore to promote their products and services. And most importantly, to showcase their capabilities and high standards to the world. I look forward to this partnership with Crocodile and hope that more local companies will come forward to join us in the Singapore 2010 journey.
