Watch history in the making as you cheer on the torchbearers of the first-ever Youth Olympic Games!

After making its way across five continents, the Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame (JYOF) will reach Singapore for the Singapore JYOF.

About 2,400 Singaporeans have been selected as torchbearers for a torch relay over six days, before the Youth Olympic Flame is lit at the Singapore 2010 Opening Ceremony at The Float@Marina Bay to mark the start of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

Torchbearers are ambassadors of the Youth Olympic Flame, expressing the spirit of Olympism and inspiring others to connect with this ideal. A torchbearer for the Singapore JYOF must live the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect.

The following criteria were used to select torchbearers.

Torchbearers must

1. Be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
2. Be at least 12 years old (born on or before 1 January 1999)
3. Have made their community better with their deeds of Excellence, Friendship or Respect.

The relay will be split into two sessions for each day - morning and afternoon.

Each torchbearer will run approximately 100m.

Torchbearers will each be provided with one set of the official torchbearer uniform of a t-shirt and shorts. Torchbearers should provide their own running footwear and make their own transport arrangements to the reporting venue for the relay, which will be released at a later date.

If you have been chosen as a torchbearer, you will need to attend at least one briefing session in July prior to the relay. Please also set aside a few hours of your time on the actual day that you will be running the torch relay.
