Get to know the three young ladies behind the CAN! DISCOVER publicity team, and find out what their unconventional ways of Creating Action are!

(L to R: Laura, Ros and Daena)

Laura, 23 studies at Republic Polytechnic. She’s our resident timekeeper and she chases the rest of us to meet our deadlines every week! She’s also the one who makes sure all our cool CAN! collectibles get produced on time.

1. The craziest thing I’ve done to Create Action Now is... participating in 3 CCAs during my secondary school days. It was tiring at times, but I had a lot of fun at the same time!

2. I love the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games because... there will be fun-filled events all the way till August 2010. The whole Singapore will be celebrating as one, so this is going to be the biggest party ever!

3. You HAVE to come for CAN! DISCOVER because you'll enjoy the many refreshing cultural activities lined up just for you!

Ros, 22 studies at Nanyang Technological University, where she majors in Communication Studies. She spends a lot of time staring at her computer screen because the all the snazzy graphics used in CAN! materials are conceptualised and designed by her!

1. The craziest thing I’ve done to Create Action Now is... freezing in the middle of Orchard Road in order to attract people to buy the cards I was helping to sell for charity. (But there were only 2 of us and it only lasted 3 minutes ‘cause my friend gave up). And maybe the time in Secondary School when I dressed up as an Indian man and danced for Racial Harmony Day.

2. I love the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games because...there are cool and funky people working their butts off to make this the most memorable YOG ever! So that makes me cool by association. Woot!

3. You HAVE to come for CAN! DISCOVER because THERE WILL BE JACK AND RAI. Anddd they will be singing the new YOG song. Are we excited already or what.

Daena, 21 also studies at Nanyang Technological University. She’s Ros’ coursemate. Daena’s our resident content generator. Microsoft Word is her best friend because she writes the all the articles that appear on the web and elsewhere!

1. The craziest thing I’ve done to Create Action Now is...performing with my church’s puppet team annually to spread some Christmas cheer to our neighbourhood. It sounds easy, but we’re dressed in jeans and long-sleeved black tees, and crouching behind the puppet stage. While manipulating a puppet with two hands. Not the most comfortable thing to do, but it’s always worth it.

2. I love the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games because it’s an awesome shared platform for young people from all corners of the globe to exchange ideas and cultures so it’ll be a very enriching experience for everyone! Plus, I love the fact that it’s not just an event for the sporty types!

3. You HAVE to come for CAN! DISCOVER because the World Culture Booths being set up like embassies are going to make it easy for you to make a trip around the globe without having to fly out of Singapore in a plane!
